  4. Outline each historian’s reasons for their interpretations.
  5. Share your work on the Jamboard (link on the WordPress).
ReparationsA payment that must be made as punishment for something. Germany was required to pay billions of dollars in reparations to France and Belgium.
Treaty of VersaillesThe peace treaty that ended World War One between the Allied Powers and the German Republic (no longer the German Empire).
ArmisticeA formal agreement to stop military action during war. However, an armistice is not the same as a peace treaty because it does not include any agreement about how peace will be achieved or what the peace will look like.
War Guilt ClauseArticle 231 of the Treaty of Versailles states that Germany accepts all responsibilty for causing the damages occurring during the war.
November RevolutionBeginning with mutinies in the German navy, social unrest led to a revolution and the establishment of a democratic republic known as the Weimar Republic. Kaiser Wilhelm fled to the Netherlands where the Dutch royal family protected him from arrest.
