Research Guide

Research is an essential part of Individuals and Societies, as it is to other subjects and disciplines. In this course you will learn to further develop and refine your research skills to ensure you are well prepared to enter for high school and beyond.

This guide is broken up into separate pages to that focus on a specific element of the research and essay writing process. You are strongly encouraged to use these guides and resources to help you do the best research and write the best essay that you can.

Research Code of Conduct

However, before you look any further everyone must understand and be familiar with the following Research Code of Conduct. These are rules for responsible and proper research at CISH. It is your responsibility to understand remember each of these rules and to follow them at all times when doing research.

  • Academic honesty is not an option.
  • Use good sources of information (OPVL).
  • Write your best English.
  • Form your own opinions and conclusions about knowledge found in research.
  • Challenge assumptions and perspectives found in research.
  • Reflect on your strengths and limitations and take action accordingly.
  • Ask for help when you need it. Ignorance is not an excuse.
  • Organize and manage your time effectively.
